1. What is the Shur'tugal Fan Fiction Adventure?
The Shur'tugal Fan Fiction Adventure (SFF Adventure, "the Adventure", or SFFA for short) is a combination roleplaying and text adventure. In it, there is an overarching storyline (released in the form of chapters) to go along with several writing challenges and other tasks for participants to do. The writing challenges are related to the chapters, and require the participant to write their character's reaction to a situation, how they get out of a situation, or what they do in a situation.

2. How do I create a character?
Create a character by going to the Character Discussion board. Read the rules first, then make a new thread with your character's details. You may want to look at some other participants' characters to see how they made theirs. Once your character sheet has been accepted on the forum, you can submit it to SFF like you would any other story. Be sure to submit it in the "SFF Adventure" category!

3. What do I do after creating a character?
The next task to do after creating a character is the first writing Challenge, found in the "Challenges" board under the "Interactive Events" board. However, because Challenges are related to certain chapters, it would be in your best interest to read through some of the story first. For Challenge #1, you should read the Prologue and parts 1 and 2 of Chapter One.

4. How do I post my response to challenges?
You need to submit them to SFF like you would any other story. Simply add them to the story with your character sheet.

5. I'm still confused; is there a more in-depth explanation of the rules and how this all works?
Yes, this is just an introductory FAQ. A more in-depth on is found here.

6. OK, but I still have questions that aren't answered by either FAQ.
Well, then, just post them here, and I'll answer them as soon as possible!

I just now created my character and I have yet to get it accepted. But, say that it does, what do I do about the writing challenges? There are already new ones, and the expiration dates are clearly on there. How do I catch up with everyone else since the challenges have already been posted months ago? I feel very behind.

I wouldn't worry about falling behind too much; you're not the only one who's joined after Challenges have been put up, and the SFFA doesn't move along too terribly fast. The Challenges don't really have expiration dates, since you can write them as early or late in the Adventure as you want. You just won't be able to Roleplay in Narda, you'd have to Roleplay in Therinsford. But other than that, swenson (the moderator who currently runs the SFFA) should get around to accepting your character if it's all right, and then you can start your Challenge 1, which you'd post after you'd submitted your character sheet to SFF. Challenge 2's optional, and not everyone's even completed Challenge 3, let alone Challenge 4.

Once you get two of the four Challenges completed, you can join one of the Gangs as well, and then just finish up the other one (or two, if you choose to do Challenge 2).

I can't even begin to explain how relieved I am hearing this. I was worried that I was a little late getting started, but now I understand that this is simply an experience that all can enjoy and participate in, on time or not. Thanks for answering my worries...I hope I get accepted.

You're welcome. And you're exactly right; anyone can join at any time, since there are no deadlines for Challenges. If you want to participate in Riddles, Tasks, Crossroads, or Boss Battles, you do have to complete those before a certain deadline. Though they aren't mandatory, you can earn Player Points and other special prizes by participating in them. Otherwise, it's just a join-whenever-you-can thing. Smiley And there will be new Riddles, Tasks, Crossroads, and Boss Battles posted to participate in as well, so you haven't missed out on those either. Just work on your Challenges and you'll be all caught up.

I am so new to all of this and I can't help but wonder...where do we post our challenge entries? I have already asked someone else about how we are supposed to know where we live, and I have yet to have that answered, but I am confused on where to post the first challenge.

Just post them on the main site like any other story. Add your character sheet as a new story, and then you can just add challenges as chapters.
